What we aim for

We build this site against WCAG 2.2 Level AA, the current version of the international standard. We treat it as the target we are working to, not a badge — see “What we have not confirmed” below.

What we did, and when

In August 2026 the whole site was reviewed against WCAG 2.2 across six areas: keyboard and focus, page structure and headings, colour contrast and zoom, images and motion, forms and error messages, and the criteria added in version 2.2. Thirty issues were found and fixed. Among them:

• Tabbing down a page could park the highlighted link underneath the bar that sticks to the bottom of the screen on phones, so you could not see what you had selected. It now stops above it.
• Eight fields in the estimate form drew no visible outline when selected. A second, conflicting style had been cancelling the first one out.
• Opening the menu on a phone left the page behind it still reachable by keyboard, so focus could wander invisibly under the panel. The page behind is now inert while the menu is open.
• Text sitting over the background films was too faint in places. Those passages were re-measured against the actual footage rather than against the colour behind it, and darkened until they passed.
• Lists across the site lost their meaning in Safari and on iPhone, where a browser quirk removes list semantics from styled lists. A screen reader now announces them as lists again.

What is built in

• A “Skip to main content” link is the first thing you reach with the keyboard on every page.
• Every page has one main heading, an unbroken heading order, and proper page landmarks, so you can navigate by structure instead of reading everything.
• Every image carries a text description. Decorative ones are hidden from screen readers.
• Nothing on the site moves if your device is set to reduce motion, and there is a “Pause motion” control in the footer if you would rather stop it yourself. The background films carry no sound.
• The site works at 200% zoom and down to a 320-pixel-wide screen without sideways scrolling, and it survives increased text and line spacing.
• Form errors say what is wrong and how to fix it, appear as text on the page rather than only in a browser popup, and are announced to screen readers.
• Several of these are re-checked automatically every time the site is rebuilt, so they cannot quietly regress.

What we have not confirmed

This is the part most accessibility statements leave out, so we will be direct about it. The review above was carried out by reading the code and measuring the built pages. That can prove a feature exists and that a colour contrast passes. It cannot prove that someone using a screen reader can actually complete our estimate form — only a person using one can establish that.

A written test plan exists for that work: a keyboard-only pass, a screen-reader pass on both Windows and iPhone, a 200% zoom pass and a narrow-screen pass. It has not been carried out yet by a person using those tools. Until it has, we are not claiming conformance with WCAG 2.2 AA, and you should treat any page on this site that says otherwise as a mistake.

Two other known limits: the background films on some pages are decorative and carry information nowhere else, but they have not been evaluated by anyone with low vision in real conditions; and our video captions are not applicable because none of the footage has audio or speech.
